Before you can even start in the combat phase of the game you have to complete a series of training missions where you have to learn to take off at the perfect climb rate, or descend at the perfect glide path and stuff. Also, Aero Combat Elite makes you think about some of the crap you have to think about in flying like maintaining a constant air speed through various maneuvers, or making your angles of bank and turn within 5 degrees perfect, etc. The game does account for angle of attack, overspeed, stalls, g-force, gravity, max cornering and at least fuel and realistic weapon counts. While the controls are still way too simple to be realistic, and the avionics are almost non-exhistant, there is at least a semi realistic flight model the ace combat series doesnt have.

Second, while the gap in realism for flight sims on the PS2, XBOX and GameCube is Narrow and the gap between Console and PC is huge, Aero Combat Elite comes out as the most realistic. Granted there are possible consequences to that. I have a car I figure is much more fun to drive fast in real life. First, I've never seen a racing game for the PC as realistic as Grand Turismo 4, but then again I've never really been into racing games.
